If you are a Pty Ltd company, Close Corporation or Individual (Sole Proprietor) trading as a Business Name, according to South African Law you must register the Business Name. This form can help you do that. Apply for a Business/Trading/Defensive Name in terms of CPA 2008 and new Companies Act 2008 (South Africa). A Defensive Name is a business name that is reserved for your use, for "trading as" etc., for a period of 2 years. You must renew the name every 2 years (our renewal app fee: R799.00) if you want to keep on using it. Timeframe: Your Defensive Name result is expected in ± 5 working days. Defensive Name confirmation is expected in another ± 14 working days.
